Relocating around the country, I've learned more than geography and best packing practices. I've learned how powerful it can be to find common ground with others, and how unique it can be to bond with someone else, which is essentially why I light up when I meet someone new and discover they're from a place that I've lived in or visited before. I ask questions like "Where are you from," "What do you do," "What brings you here," mostly to find a commonality in someone's background that meshes with mine. However, fate also plays a role in the coincidences in my life, and our visit to Disney World is no exception. I've been in Orlando for two days and have encountered three such divine coincidences that prove this truly is a small world afterall.
We learned about the first coincidence two weeks before the trip. Out of Li'l Boo's private small-town preschool class of 16, another gal was going to be at Walt Disney World the exact same week! It cracked me up, as the week isn't a break week, so wasn't a big vacation week. What's the probability of that happening?
Just last night as I was waiting for the Walt Disney World Resort "What's New" press conference, another blogger entered and walked by me to sit at my table, and I caught her nametag. Sure enough, it was Mommies With Style - one of the other attendees I was going to look for to meet in person at the conference, and she's someone that a fellow blogger had recommended I seek out as she thought we'd get along well. I was with her for the duration of the press conference, and can honestly say that it felt like I'd known her way longer than the minutes we spent together. Us runing into each other must have been fate.
Then, finally, after the press conference I ran into Selfish Mom and her family, at nearly the exact same time I met up with c2cDad and Li'l Boo from their activities. I was in the middle of introductions among all of them, when I learned that her hubby and mine had actually spent quite a bit of time together with the boys playing soccer at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in our absence. Seriously - the hubbies met up not knowing we were bloggy friends. It made me laugh!
Funny the way things work out: it's such a small world. That could be the soundtrack to my life. Small town gal seeks out small town suburb to build her life and explore the Big Apple from afar, while running into others she's just missed along the way. . .because these coincidences aren't rare - one of these such encounters happen to me nearly once a week.
