Walking with Dinosaurs did an incredible job of creating 17 life-sized dinosaurs that moved and interacted in such a way that for 90 minutes you felt like you were watching real creatures. The sheer scale and movement of dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex were amazing, and truly humbling to think of how life would have been like in the Triassic Period. Li'l Boo has watched the DVDs of the BBC program practically once a week for the past year, and it shocked me when he knew which dinosaurs were going to come out next, based on the end of one period and the beginning of the next.
The show took full advantage of the floor space in Madison Square Garden, and as a result there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. It was choreographed in such a way that everyone got to see an unobstructed view of each dinosaur as it moved about the stage. The people in the lower tiers enjoyed a truly upfront and personal experience, but watching dinosaurs like the Brachiosaurus that scale nearly four stories tall, they're easy to see even from the seats located farther from the stage. We took these photos from our seats in the upper deck.
I'm sure Li'l Boo will be asking to attend the show again whenever it makes its way back to NYC. Now the bigger question: what else is there left for us to do with a five year old that celebrates dinosaurs?
