What Else Can We Do With Dinosaurs?

This post is inspired by the From Left to Write virtual book club choice, Dinosaurs On The Move by Cathy Diez-Luckie. I received a copy of the book as part of my participation in the monthly book club.

I suppose I should have just started a "dinosaur" category for my blog. Once my son became interested in dinosaurs, we flocked to dinosaur toys, puzzles, exhibits and events like mad. Someone gifted him a book listing 100 dinosaur species and he has learned them all. (Honestly, I am shocked to have learned that there are 100 species in the first place!) For creatures so ancient, I never would have guessed that there'd be so many dinosaur-themed activities and travel opportunities these days.

Here's a smattering of where we've been and what activities we've done for Li'l Boo's love of dinosaurs thus far:

1. Li'l Boo watches the Dinosaur Train on PBS every day. Every. Day.
2. He has the two-DVD box set ofthe "Walking with Dinosaurs" BBC Series, AND attended the live arena show at Madison Square Garden.
3. We visited the Detroit Zoo last year for their Dinosauria exhibit. It was thrilling - even on a hot, humid day. We'd walk through it again if it comes to a zoo near us.

We visit the American Museum of Natural History in NYC several times a year and always check out the dinosaurs in the lobby to see if they've grown. Hee-hee.

We visited the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington D.C.

We visit the animatronic T-Rex in the Toys R Us Times Square location every time we enter the store. Every. Time.

We attended an advance screening for Dinosaur Train and a book signing by "Dr. Scott" Sampson at a science celebration here in NYC.

We've have an entire bookshelf for dinosaur puzzles, and half of a bookshelf exclusively for dinosaur-themed books.

We visited the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.

We photographed Li'l Boo at The National Zoo in Washington D.C. by the dinosaur statues and the dinosaur statues and fountains in Santa Monica.

We rode "Dinosaur" at Animal Kingdom and "Universe of Energy" at Epcot while at Walt Disney World earlier this year.

We were excited to add doing the Figures in Motion book as a family one rainy weekend to our list of dinosaur experiences.
