On March 2nd, be sure to take a moment to silently wish Happy Birthday to Theodor Seuss Geisel, otherwise known as "Dr. Seuss." In honor of his birthday and all of his efforts to encourage and promote literacy, PBS is holding a two hour marathon event of The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!, including two brand new episodes: "Incredible Journey/Bamboozled," and "Teeny Weeny Adventure/I See Seeds."
The anniversary of Dr. Seuss's birth has become nearly synonymous with celebrating the love of reading, and PBS sent us a Dr. Seuss birthday kit with Dr. Seuss party hats, two Dr. Seuss books, a cake mix, balloons, stickers and an advance copy of the two new The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! episodes to host our very own birthday party and sneak preview. We had a few of The Kiddo's friends over to see the episodes last week, and took the party supplies into his preschool class for a lunchtime celebration today.
The Kiddo and I are celebrating this morning before school, doing some of the printable activities on the PBS website to color, match and draw through a maze and we'll be tuning in for the marathon too. We also scanned through our photos from our trip to Universal Studios Orlando last fall and our visit to Seuss Landing. Here are a few of the highlights...
My favorite quote from Dr. Seuss:
I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent.
