Since the Kiddo was born, I'd wanted a personalized Louisville Slugger baseball bat for his room, and our coast-to-coast road trip was the perfect opportunity to visit the Louisville Slugger Factory & Museum and pick one up. It was timely too as he'd just completed his first year of Little League tee-ball!
We rolled into Louisville about 4 p.m., which gave us just enough time to make the last tour of the day. We missed the cut-off to order and receive a personalized bat that day, but we placed an order and were able to pick it up first thing when the gift shop opened the next morning.
The first thing you notice when pulling up to the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum is the World's Biggest Bat. You can't miss it. The big baseball bat was installed in 1995, and is 120 feet long - or more than five stories tall!
Inside, there's a large Louisville Slugger gift shop, with a personalized bat counter along the far wall.
Here's some other peaks inside the Louisville Slugger museum and factory tour:
When you first enter the museum you can pick up a bat, glove and pose like you're at home plate inside an actual stadium.
Life sized figures of some of the biggest names in baseball appear throughout the floor, with the history of the game and Louisville Slugger around the perimeter.
The origins of Louisville Slugger...
Outside the museum, there's a one-mile baseball bat "Walk of Fame" showcasing the bats of famous sluggers. The Kiddo was totally hammin' it up by the Stan Musial bat model on the walk of fame.
We stayed at the 21c Museum Hotel just a block away and loved it.
