I'm THRILLED to share that we'll soon board the Disney Fantasy ship for a preview cruise!! It's been so exciting following my bloggy friends' tweets and reading their posts full of gorgeous photos and videos from the luxurious Disney Fantasy's christening in NYC a week ago. (Check out some of ClassyMommy 's videos for a closer look . . . and seriously, SelfishMom is one of the biggest Disney Parks fans I know!)
Thanks to Dolby Labs, I've been invited to cruise and hear first-hand about how Disney Cruise Line integrates Dolby Surround 7.1 and Dolby 3D onboard its fleet. Disney Cruise Line is the first luxury cruise line to launch with Dolby Surround 7.1 and Dolby 3D, and the Disney Fantasy is the newest ship in the DCL fleet.
The thing that just tickles me is that I remember attending the press conference announcing the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream ships back in 2010 during the Disney Social Media Moms celebration. The amazing AquaDuck water slide alone had me wanting to climb aboard to try out! Now I get the opportunity to get up close and personal with their theaters!
I'll share our family travel experiences on the trip via Instagram (so be sure to follow c2cmom), here on coast-to-coast mom, and will be attending on behalf of Techlicious, so all of the good Dolby and DCL technology stuff there (well, and a little of that will creep in here, too!). We leave in a few weeks.
Remarkably, this will be the first cruise for our coast-to-coast family. (I know!) So there's a little intrepidation about trying something for the first time and my Type-A mind wanting to know everything that we'll need to pack and plan for, like YESTERDAY. If you have any advice about taking a family cruise, please leave a comment and let me know!!
That's SO amazing. I'm ridiculously jealous. =} We haven't done a family cruise, but we did one for our honeymoon. It was so much fun. I think you'll want to pack just like you'd pack for any other trip with the additional of dramamine in case there are rough seas. I love that you can visit multiple locations without having to pack up and move your stuff! Also, the cruise ship cabins are really tiny (think NYC hotel room), so you'll want to find the smallest entertainment options possible for your little guy (iPad, anyone?).

Thanks!! We're pretty geeked. Where do you get dramamine? Is it at CVS/Walgreens, or do I need to call my dr.?

I'm glad that you are going. You will have a blast. If you get a chance to see the itinerary before you go, you can make a loose plan to pace yourself. Leave some "wiggle room" in your plans though...there will be a lot to explore. The ship is FABULOUS!

Thanks! Your insight helped me to decide :-) Noted - added "wiggle room" on things to pack with us. Hee-hee.
