I had a blast attending Katie Couric's The Katie Show to live tweet and blog during an episode taping yesterday with special guest Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook.
I arrived at ABC Studios on time despite the dreary and rainy morning.
Then after chit-chatting and comparing our Midwestern roots with the online producer, she whisked us into our front row seats amidst the comedian's audience warm-up.
This was my view from the front row with my laptop on my lap just before the show began:
It was fun to see Katie interview Sheryl Sandberg the same day Facebook was celebrating their 1 billionth user, and we saw the first ever Facebook TV commercial. I was surprised by how many separate segments the show's able to fit into one episode! There was a lookalike segment, two segments on Facebook, a Dove Women who Should be Famous segment, a segment about the Children's Health Fund 25th anniversary benefit, and two segments on The Piano Guys. Phew!
After the taping, Katie chatted with the audience and answered questions. I felt like during that portion we saw the real Katie, and hope that as the show progresses that they're able to integrate more of her charismatic self into the appropriate segments. Kudos to the staff on the show's one-month anniversary! I had a blast visiting, and everyone working on the show was friendly - a crew of total pros.
Afterward we snapped a few photos with Katie. While she's cute as ever, I totally look like I only got two hours of sleep. (Which I did.) Sheesh.
Thanks to The Katie Show for embracing social media as a part of their show, and for inviting me in to participate during a taping.
You look great! I was surprised myself to see so many segments. So of the episodes are devoted to just one story. This was one of my favorite episodes so far, lucky you.
