Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess, the animated movie about an ordinary little girl whose life changes when her mother marries the king and she becomes a princess, premieres Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 7 p.m. EDT on the Disney Channel, and on Thursday, November 22nd at 9 a.m. EDT on Disney Junior. A "Sofia the First" animated series will debut on TV in early 2013.
Set in a storybook world of Enchancia, Sofia the First learns to navigate her new life growing up as royalty while being herself. The movie begins as Sofia and her mother move into the castle to live with King Roland II and Sofia's step-siblings. Once there, she attends Royal Prep Academy (with teachers like Sleeping Beauty's fairies - Fauna, Flora and Merryweather), where she learns that looking like a princess is one thing, but characteristics like honesty, courage and compassion truly make one royal.
The all-star voice cast stars Ariel Winter ("Modern Family"), Sara Ramirez ("Grey's Anatomy"), Wayne Brady ("Let's Make a Deal") and Tim Gunn ("Project Runway"). As an added bonus, classic Disney princess Cinderella will appear in the movie to share her experience as a princess with Sofia.
Created for kids age 2-7 and their families, the stories of "Sofia the First" communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to little kids. Check out DisneyJunior.com/Sofia for more information about the show and characters. (On Friday, November 2, the site will expand to include a fully immersive experience where kids can create and personalize their own prince or princess avatars!)
