While in Chicago, we were invited to attend a The Smurfs 2 movie preview with Sony Pictures, The Moms #smurfmamarazzi, Build-a-Bear Workshop and McAfee, and the Kiddo was all too ready to get his smurf on . . .
We were greeted by the Build-a-Bear Smurf line, and even got to choose one for ourselves as we walked the blue carpet.
Sequels can always be unpredictable, but Smurfs 2 was an entertaining follow-up, picking up where the original Smurfs left off. Gargamel (played again by the versatile Hank Azaria), last seen stranded in our world at the end of the last movie, is now a wealthy and famous magician in Paris, where he uses his remaining blue essence to do his bidding.
Now running out, and in search of more blue essence (which can only be derived from Smurfs), he sends one of two new smurf-like creatures called the Naughties back to the Smurf Village to nab Smurfette, so he can learn the secret formula that turned Smurfette (who was originally a Naughty we learn), into her true blue self.
Christina Ricci plays the voice of Vexy, and J.B. Smoove is the bumbling Hackus, both of which are Build-A-Bear Naughties that you can buy in stores now.
The story is packed with plenty of amusing smurfy references and puns, and has had the Kiddo repeating lines and re-living scenes ever since.
My kids are wanting to see this movie. The new Smurf Build-A-Bear plushes are super cute.
