Pac is back! If you didn't get enough of ghosts for
Halloween, there's new PAC-Man video game by Bandai Namco based
on the popular Disney cartoon PAC-Man and the Ghostly Adventures This reimagined 3D version of course originated from that 2D version that we all may have known and loved from the
80's.
This PAC-Man has two friends named Cylindria and Spiral - and those four brightly colored ghosts Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde? They've been redesigned just like in the Disney
cartoon - no more roaming googly-eyes here after they've been eaten by Pac-Man. There's a new ghost, too, named Betrayus whose goal is to take over the land of
PacWorld.
The Kiddo found the game to be pretty easy to understand and
navigate, and in fact got through three full levels pretty quickly. Not having extensively played the 1980's version, the Kiddo wasn't confused by the fact that you could eat any ghost in this version, not just the blue ones. That famous Pac-Man fruit appears upon completion of each level (a cherry, orange and banana), but PAC-Man is actually on the hunt for hamburgers in this game to restore any health lost when running into ghosts.
One thing the Kiddo found cool was the different power-up suits you could don on certain levels of the game, for instance you can shoot ice when wearing the "Ice Pac" - also neccesary when defeating flaming ghosts, but Pac-Man wears a chameleon suit in later levels which the Kiddo enjoyed playing.
If playing the game wasn't enough at the Nintendo World launch party, refreshments were on hand that included cookies in the shape of PAC-Man and the original ghosts.
PAC-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is on sale now at retailers, and you can learn more about the game on their Pac Is Back website. You can see more photos of the NYC launch party on the Coast to Coast Mom Flickr site.
