Earlier today, Ford Motor Company debuted the 2015 version of the iconic Mustang at an event in New York City, where CEO Alan Mulally introduced the stunning 50th Anniversary "pony car" with a redesigned body and a sleek new design.
A gorgeous slate grey Mustang convertible was on hand and Moray Callum, designer of the 50 Year Mustang, and future Global VP of Design, spoke about the design elements and Ford's need to respect "the heritage of the Mustang".
Everything about the car was redesigned from the inside out, with more shoulder, hip and knee room for front and rear passengers - and for you golfers out there, the 2015 Mustang will comfortably fit two golf club bags in the trunk without having to put down the seats - a rarity for a sports vehicle.
Technologically, there's more than 20 new features in the 2015 Mustang, starting with three engine options that includes the introduction of the 2.3 liter Eco Boost.
"Intelligent Access" becomes standard on all Mustangs with the elimination of keys, with a push button start and a toggle switch that will control one of three slecteable driving modes (normal, track, sport and wet/snow mode) that will automatcally adjust steering, engine control and traction/electronic stability. If you want to customize your own setting, you'll have the ability to do that.
The Ford Mustang was originally revealed at the 1964 World's Fair here in New York, so it was only fitting the New York was one of five cities where the new 2015 Mustang was released today. April 17, 2014 marks the actual 50th anniversary of the introduction of the original Ford Mustang.
Each 2015 model celebrates the milestone with a badge on the instrument panel that includes the galloping pony logo and the words “Mustang – Since 1964.” Mustang will continue to be built in the United States at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant.
