I recently attended a lovely lunch with Alberto VO5 to help choose their next shampoo and conditioner scent. They've launched the VO5 "A Scent Is Born" sweepstakes on Facebook this week, and you can have your say as to which of three scents you'd like them to produce next - if you "like" their page and vote.
Besides sniffing scrumptious sweet smells and eating wonderful food, I learned quite a bit about the Alberto VO5 product lines. I found it interesting to hear that VO5 actually stands for "five [essential] vitamin oils." Alberto VO5 was developed 59 years ago (VO5 hot oil treatment will celebrate it's 60th anniversary next year!), as conditioning hairdressing for Hollywood actresses to help protect their hair as they spent hours under hot lights. The conditioner and creme rinse spread to households across America from there throughout the 1960s, and VO5 hot oil treatment launched in 1976.
Alberto VO5 offered us three distinct scents to choose from in order to identify the winning "delicious" trend category scent for the "A Scent Is Born" sweepstakes. The other two scent choices fall under "fruity" and "floral," but with decadent sweets being so on-trend this year, I'm glad to have participated in the "delicious" scent selection. :-D
The first scent we sniffed was a light, citrusy smell; the second was a sweet fruity caramel and whipped creme scent, an the third was a stronger dulce de leche, coconutty scent - that reminded me of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.
We met at Back Forty West in SoHo NYC, amidst the rustic farm-to-table food and charming ambiance. (One of my favorite type of restaurants - reminds me of Sonoma and my home in Michigan! :-))
