The Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie coming to theaters March 7, 2014, has captured our hearts the more we've learned about it these past few months. Featuring the voices of Ty Burrell (Mr. Peabody - a brilliant dog), and Max Charles (Sherman - a mischevious boy), and directed by Rob Minkoff ("The Lion King," "Stuart Little"), the Kiddo called the movie "a great father-son story that will make your heart glow and is very funny." Well said, Kiddo.
The movie was funny, heart-warming, and reminded me of a father-son version of The Magic Tree House book series of historical time-traveling experiences. I love how travel and historical figures are brought together to play out as an adventure for the movie. We've found that all of our family travel has enriched and expanded the Kiddo's experiences and knowledge by leaps and bounds, and I think anyone who sees the movie will leave pondering where they'd like to travel, any famous people in history they'd like to meet or have an adventure with, or even what time period they'd like to visit! It was an inspirational movie from those perspectives, beyond the laughs. :-)
Everyone I know just loves Ty on Modern Family, and his public persona, which endeared me to the movie at first. The more I learned about the "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" shorts about the WABAC time-traveling duo that originated in the 1950s, their focus on travel, historic figures and watching a child grow up, the more I was drawn to the film.
This trailer does a great job of explaining what the movie's about:
