Last weekend I attended the New York Baby Show here in New York City, which bills itself as the largest show in the country "for new and expectant parents." I attended on the last day of the show, and I have to say it was pretty packed with hundreds of families visiting booths as they covered the span of over 150 sponsors and exhibitor tables.
There were hundreds of products at the New York Baby Show as you would expect. Everything from clothes, toys, apps for your phone, life insurance products, strollers and more. Here are some of my favorites that were on display during the show this year:
BiteSizers by Mixed Pears
These scissors are designed to speed up the process of cutting food for your child and having tried them in person, they work really well. As some who travels frequently, BiteSizers are TSA friendly having blades less than 4" in length, making them portable even on planes. BiteSizers retail for $19.95 and currently come in three colors Pink Bubbles, Green Seeds, and Blue Hex.
Mabel's Labels
While Mabel's Labels have been around for several years now, I'm still a huge fan. These labels have been an indispensable product to ensure that I've been able to identify the kid's stuff - or moreso that other parents and kids don't grab the wrong thing by mistake. The durability and stickiness of the labels has enabled me to put them on everything from backpacks to baseball bats and the labels have never come off until I pulled them off. While labels can be pre-ordered (now comes in an iron on version), there are also new labels where you can write on your information (think phone numbers, etc).
The Beebo by Better FamilyThis clever and innovative product works just as easily for dads as it does for moms by freeing up both hands to do other things like reading to your child, or burping your child while not having to worry about setting down the bottle. The Beebo is designed to keep the bottle in a consistent, stable feeding position to ensure your baby is more likely to finish the entire bottle. The Beebo come in aqua, orange and yellow and retails for $39.95
MinkeeBlue Handbags
These are one of the more fashionably disguised diaper bags that I've seen lately. With 13 compartments, including a place to hold a laptop up to 13", this makes this a versatile bag to carry around all of your daily needs. The MinkeeBlue Handbags come in four styles and retail for $220 (at the time of publishing, they were on sale for $132 including free shipping.
BabyGuard by Vipose
Coming to market soon as part of a KickStarter campaign, this device is being billed as the first wearable in the world designed to detect harmful electromagnetic radiation. Using light and vibrations, it will alert you every time you are too close to a number of sources of electromagnetic harm, or you can monitor the level of radiation from an app on your phone. The BabyGuard is expected to be released sometime in Q3 2015.
Quinny
New for this year is the widely popular Quinny line of strollers South Beach line that have soft pastels with bright accents. The Quinny folds compactly making it easy to transport and three forward and two rear facing positions making versatile as well.
